Is the Hard rock bike a good bike to buy? Do you get what you pay for?

I'm gonna buy a specialized Hard rock, and I'm wondering what the differences between the four models within the series are. Are the upgrades worth the stretch? Or should I just buy the $390 one? Thanks

  1. I purchased my wife a base model for her limited use on family trails and fire roads. It is good for that and not much more.

As the models upgrade, so does the bike. The components differ and the additions of disc brakes and such make the bike more trail worthy. The Base Hard Rock does NOT come with hubs that are disc compatible.

You need to decide what you plan on doing with the bike. if you ant to get into serious riding, buy the upper model or even jump up to a rock hopper (if you want to stay Specialized). Some soul searching is in order.
